Missing Georgia Teen’s Family Seeks Help
A 14-year-old girl named Amy Reedling from Georgia has gone missing after spending Sunday shopping for homecoming outfits with her stepmom. Her stepmother, Ginny Rutledge, discovered that Amy was missing when they returned home from dinner. Rutledge reported that she noticed her absence and called 911 around 9:15 PM.
According to Rutledge, Amy and her family didn’t have phones with them and were short on money, which raises concerns about her being lured online. Notably, the family is worried because Amy hasn’t posted anything on social media, leading them to suspect something might have happened.
“She’s just not aware of so many things, especially in big cities like Atlanta,” Rutledge commented. “It sounds so cliché, but you never think it could happen to you. And yet, here we are.”
The day before her disappearance, Rutledge and Amy had picked out some accessories to go with her homecoming dress. The stepmother was looking forward to watching her stepdaughter dance at the upcoming event. Following Amy’s disappearance, they reached out to friends and even hired private investigators to help with the search.
Amy left home on September 21st at around 6 PM from the vicinity of Glenwood Road and Covington Highway. She is described as being 5 feet 1 inch tall with brown hair and brown eyes, as noted in a flyer her family has circulated.
A spokesperson from the DeKalb County Police Department stated that the investigation into her disappearance is ongoing. They emphasized that efforts are being made actively to find her.
“This investigation is thorough and we are committed to locating Amy,” the spokesperson said. “Just as we do with all cases involving missing children, our officers are working diligently to bring her back home.”
In a heartfelt message to her missing daughter, Rutledge expressed her feelings: “Amy, we love you, we miss you, and we want you back home. I love you, my girl. You’re my person, and I miss you dearly.”
