Teen stormed airport with AR-style rifle demanding a plane

Officials say the 15-year-old boy raided with an AR-style rifle with an AR-style rifle.

The unidentified teenager entered Signature Airlines, a business at Texalcana Regional Airport, around 7:30am Tuesday, approaching a front counter where he flashed his rifle and handguns.

The pilot ran, grabbed his gun from the truck, confronted the boy and ordered him to the ground, officials said.

The teenager was compliant and was eventually taken into custody by the Texal Cana Arkansas Police. He found another shotgun in a vehicle that appears to be using by the 15-year-old suspect, the airport said.

Local police welcomed the pilot's actions as “heroic.” KSLA

“The Texal Cana Arkansas Police Department praises the heroic acts of local pilots.” said in a statement.

“The fact that this case was resolved quickly and peacefully is extremely commendable despite the extreme dangers being presented,” he added.

According to airport director Paul Merlich, the ordeal lasted about 10 minutes.

“We are extremely grateful that there were no injuries or loss of lives, but in reality, the actions of this pilot and their actions by the staff at Signature Airlines have saved lives.” Mehrlich He told local outlet KSLA.

A teenager who was not from the area was arrested for aggravated assault, attempting to exacerbate the robbery and creating a threat of terrorism, officers said.

His motive remains unknown. He was taken to the Arkansas Juvenile Detention Center.
