Teen uses fake gun while trying to rob man. The painful problem for kid? His victim has a real gun — and uses it.

A 16-year-old man used a fake gun to try to rob a man on a Philadelphia street late Sunday night.

However, the victim had a real gun and fired at the teen, wounding him and sending him to the hospital. WPVI-TV reported.

The victim remained at the scene and was cooperating with police.

The incident occurred just after 11 p.m. in the 2200 block of Emerald Street in the city's West Kensington neighborhood, the department said.

The boy then told the 21-year-old victim he had a gun pressed against his back and was robbing him, Detective Inspector DF Pace said. told WCAU-TV. Police say the boy was with another would-be robber.

Pace told WCAU, adding that the 16-year-old instructed the victim to hand over his keys, wallet and any other valuables in his possession.

“At that point, the victim began producing the items requested by the robber, but he also had a legal firearm in his possession,” Pace told police.

With that, the man turned and shot the boy once in the leg, Pace told WCAU, adding that the other would-be thief fled on foot.

The injured boy was taken to St. Christopher's Children's Hospital and is listed in stable condition, WPVI said.

WPVI added that the victim remained at the scene and is cooperating with police, noting that officers said a nearby Ring camera recorded footage of the incident.

Pace also told WCAU that the victim, who was unharmed, recovered some belongings that the teen had handed over after dropping them.

WCAU reports that responding officers also recovered a toy handgun that Pace said he used in the attempted robbery.

Pace also told WCAU, “After the victim fired at the robbers, the gun was dropped and recovered by police. It is currently in police custody and is now known to be a fake gun.” told. “However, the victim had his back once again, so there was no way for the victim to know.”

Police also said they took the boy into custody, WCAU reported.

According to WTXF-TVThe victim was with his girlfriend at the time of the incident.
