Teen Vogue’s Controversial Editorial Direction

When Condé Nast revealed that Teen Vogue would merge with Vogue.com, many liberals expressed outrage about the loss of its independence. However, it seems that despite these changes, the publication continues to produce what some label as radical content.

Teen Vogue has faced consistent criticism, particularly from right-leaning media, for its content that often leans heavily towards progressive topics, including discussions around sexual issues and leftist ideology aimed at engaging young readers.

In a recent piece titled “The ICE Watch Program Can Protect Immigrants in Your Neighborhood—What You Need to Know,” activist Nikki Marin Baena instructs teenagers on how to resist federal immigration actions.

Baena explains that her group provides resources such as videos in Spanish, training for immigrant communities, and guidance on recognizing ICE agents. They even set up an “emergency cash assistance fund” offering grants to help families manage expenses while dealing with immigration issues.

Moreover, she encourages community members to create “hotlines, neighborhood watches, and cash assistance programs,” emphasizing the importance of proactive measures as deportations increase.

“As deportations rise again, we have a choice: watch our neighbors disappear, or build on proven strategies to protect the diverse communities we have built together,” Baena states.

While Teen Vogue’s focus is set to shift towards “career development, cultural leadership, and other key issues for young people,” there remains an undercurrent of anti-ICE sentiment in some of its articles.
