The Daily Mail reported that Bonetti sent a complaint letter to the board in 2023, asking for an investigation into what happened at Williamson Memorial Funeral Home around July 20, 2020.

In his lawsuit, Bonetti alleges that staff “deliberately broke Mr. Grant’s ankle in order to place him in a smaller casket while preparing him for removal.”
