Teenagers flee as stolen car crashes into a home in South Carolina, officials report

A stolen vehicle raced through several yards and crashed into a home in South Carolina, leading to a significant search effort involving deputies, K9 units, and a drone, according to officials.

Footage from the Greenville County Sheriff’s Office captures the moment the car collided with the house as deputies rushed over, pursuing one of the teens who fled the scene.

“Is everyone okay?” a deputy can be heard asking while checking inside the home for potential injuries.

The incident occurred around 2:30 p.m. on October 15 when deputies tried to pull over a reported stolen car. The driver sped away, and although deputies did not follow, the vehicle ultimately crashed into a residence on Renwood Road in Simpsonville.

Authorities arrested two teenagers, aged 15 and 16, who now face charges for possession of a stolen vehicle, with no injuries reported.

The video shows one deputy chasing a suspect while another heads toward the damaged property. The passenger was quickly apprehended, while a wider manhunt for the driver involved resources from both the air and the ground.

K9 units were deployed to track the driver, while drone operators captured aerial views of the area. The footage also indicated a dog picking up a scent from the vehicle before following the trail.

“When you decide to flee from law enforcement in Greenville County, you discover that our deputies have multiple resources at their disposal,” the sheriff’s office commented in a post that accompanied the video.

“You can run, but our deputies are well-equipped for these situations,” they added.

For residents in the area, the crash was quite a shocking disruption to what was supposed to be a normal afternoon.

“I was just getting my baby down for a nap when I heard a loud crash outside,” neighbor Rachel Bush recalled. Just a few minutes earlier, she had been outside with her baby and dog.

“We were really lucky to be back inside before the chaos unfolded,” she remarked.

Another resident of the home, who wasn’t there at the time of the crash, returned with his fiancé shortly after and was taken aback by the damage.

He noted that the vehicle just barely missed hitting another car parked in the garage, resulting in a lot of cleanup ahead.

Neighbor Robert Belcher reached out to offer assistance after witnessing the event. “I’m just grateful no one was inside at the time,” he recalled telling the homeowner.

The resident also shared a message directed toward the teenagers involved. “They need to consider the consequences of their actions; you never know how it might affect others,” he said.
