Ten Americans Return Home After Release from Venezuelan Custody

Ten Americans have returned to the U.S. following their release from custody in Venezuela. This was made possible through a negotiation strategy involving President Donald Trump and a contract linked to the El Salvador prison system.

A photo shared by the hostage envoy showed a former detainee visibly thrilled about the flight home, with a large American flag displayed on the plane.

Secretary of State Marco Rubio expressed gratitude towards President Trump for his leadership in securing the release of these detainees. He stated that more Americans have been unjustly held in Venezuela than in any other country, labeling their imprisonment under questionable circumstances as unacceptable.

Rubio also acknowledged El Salvador President Naive Bukele for his role in the negotiations. He thanked the State Department team and other partners involved in the effort.

The Americans’ release was part of a prisoner exchange deal, where President Bukele agreed to release hundreds of Venezuelans held in a major security prison in El Salvador. In return, Salvadoran prisoners were sent back to Venezuela.

Breitbart News noted that the U.S. had earlier sent Venezuelans to El Salvador as part of a contentious move under the Alien Enemy Act of 1798, which bypassed standard immigration processes. This action has drawn criticism from Democratic leaders.

Family members of some of those returned have denied any gang affiliations, despite media reports suggesting connections.

President Bukele announced on social media that all Venezuelan citizens accused of involvement with the criminal organization Tren de Aragua had been extradited. He emphasized that the operation followed lengthy negotiations with the regime, which had been reluctant to release hostages.

Some returning Americans have publicly denounced the Venezuelan government, with one family member, Christian Castenda, speaking out against the regime. His brother, a Navy Seal, was arrested last year under dubious circumstances in Caracas.
