Ten Commandments out, Pride banners in

The ACLU and several other civil rights groups are backing a federal lawsuit that seeks to strike down a new Louisiana law that requires the Ten Commandments to be posted in public school classrooms. The civil rights groups defend “separation of church and state,” arguing that public schools are not places for religious indoctrination.

The lawsuit comes during Pride Month, when hundreds of government entities, including educational institutions, declare their eternal allegiance to the LGBTQ cult. A concerted effort by radical activists has transformed the United States into a country where it’s normal to fly Pride and Black Lives Matter flags in classrooms, but unconstitutional to display the Ten Commandments in classrooms.

Corporations, academics, law enforcement agencies and media organizations are honoring the unofficial state religion, turning June into America’s new Ramadan.

June is a time of cultural celebration of all things queer, so it’s easy to forget that the current phase of the civil rights revolution is relatively recent. In the 2008 Democratic presidential primaries, both Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton declared their adamant support for the traditional definition of marriage as between a man and a woman. That same year, California passed Proposition 8 with 52% of the vote, enshrining the traditional definition of marriage in the most Democratic state’s constitution.

Clinton and Obama almost certainly lied about their true positions, but the fact that they were forced to do so says a lot about the debate over the issue at the time. The fact that nearly half of Republicans now support same-sex marriage and were more to the left than Clinton and Obama were in 2008 also says a lot about how quickly conservatives bow to power.

In 2008, many LGBTQ activists were still debating whether nationwide same-sex marriage was even possible, with many proposing civil unions as a compromise. In today’s America, any expression of opposition to the ritual mutilation of children, known as “transitioning,” can get you fired from your job at a major corporation or in government. The FBI, which has monitored traditional Catholic worship services and intimidated parents who oppose sex education in schools, now proudly displays photos of its agents. Take part in a Pride parade.

How did LGBTQ ideas go from a controversial issue that even left-leaning candidates were forced to distance themselves from to becoming a state religion in just under two decades?

The modern interpretation of the First Amendment to the United States Constitution has been a total failure. In the minds of most Americans, it created a separation of church and state that forbade even the recognition of religion. But the Bible has been the foundational document of Western civilization for over 1,000 years. Even people who did not personally believe in Christianity immersed themselves in its words and understood that the archetypes and stories it contains formed the basis of their common culture. The idea that students could understand Shakespeare or Milton without deep familiarity with the scriptures was considered absurd.

By eliminating Bible education from our public schools in the name of secular neutrality, we have effectively banned Western culture. Now our children speak the common language of homosexual racial communism instead.

The idea that organizations can be governed by secular neutrality is a lie. Every human organization needs a worldview that guides its decisions and aligns its actions. No matter how objective or neutral an organization’s goals claim to be, it is always guided by a set of values and beliefs. When Christianity was removed from American public life by radical interpretations of the First Amendment and civil rights laws, an ideological vacuum was left at the heart of our organizations. And nature abhors a vacuum. LGBTQ ideology was ready to fill that void.

The modern concept of separation of church and state has very specific legal triggers. Religions assert the existence of metaphysical deities, regard certain scriptures as sacred, and typically gather communally in a place of worship. If an ideology fulfills the same function as religion, but does so without the formal trappings of a church, it can in theory avoid most of the restrictions that exist to keep institutions neutral. Every institution must be driven by a set of principles, philosophy, or ideology that guides its actions. With religious competitors legally barred from fulfilling that role, LGBTQ ideology became the winner by default.

Progressive Secular Humanism (call it “Wokeness” if you like) has combined the most hostile parts of queer theory, racial grievances, and Marxist oppression ideology into a gay racial communitarianism that now dominates every major institution in America. Corporations, academia, law enforcement, and media organizations have turned June into America’s new Ramadan, honoring an unofficial state religion. Since any of these organizations would face endless lawsuits to demonstrate even the most basic solidarity with the Christian faith, they will instead worship whatever gods they are allowed to worship. The victory of the wokeness came not from compelling arguments made in the marketplace of ideas or the shaking of hearts and minds, but from legal incentives generated by a delusional belief in institutional neutrality.

If conservatives want to live in a country where the Ten Commandments are less controversial than puberty-blocking drugs for 10-year-olds, they must abandon the modern illusion of neutrality. whether Your people will worship you what Your nation will worship, and anyone who pretends otherwise is simply trying to smuggle faith in through the back door.
