Tenn. Sen. Marsha Blackburn Celebrates American Girls in Sports Day

Tennessee Republican Sen. Marsha Blackburn is celebrating “American Girls in Sports Day” with a message to her X followers.

“Join us in celebrating America's girls on Sports Day!” the senator wrote in a message Thursday. October 10th, October 10th, is represented by the Roman numeral XX, which is the same number as the female sex chromosomes.

In May, Blackburn introduced a resolution to designate October 10th as a day to celebrate women in sports.

“For nearly 50 years, Title IX has represented America's commitment to providing equal opportunities for women in educational programs and activities. Now, the Biden administration is erasing women's contributions and leaving athletics as we know it We're passionate about making a difference in the world of sport. It's more important than ever to celebrate girls and women in sport, and we're delighted to champion this resolution in their honor.” said In May.

Riley Gaines, a women's sports activist, supported the plan along with several other prominent athletes, saying, “Women can serve and compete at the highest level because women like Sen. Blackburn, Wilma Rudolph, and Pat Head.'' “We owe it to brave Tennessee women like Summitt.” I can’t wait to celebrate real women on the XX day!”

The resolution includes Caitlyn Jenner, Sage Steele, the Independent Women's Forum, Concerned Women for America, the Commission on Ethics and Religious Freedom, the Family Policy Alliance, the Alliance Defending Freedom, and Parenting Education. The action was co-sponsored by 37 other senators.

Still, the resolution was blocked by Democrats in September and was never formally passed that day.

“[W]Omen athletics has done incredible things for women” Blackburn I wrote When Democrats blocked the move in September. “That's why it's so disturbing to see the Biden-Harris administration waging war on women's sports.”

“You don't have to be a biologist to understand that there are fundamental biological differences between men and women. And when it comes to sports, these differences undermine fair play and cause women to struggle. “It erases the gains made and puts female athletes at risk,” Blackburn added.
