Slow-Speed Police Chase in Tennessee
Early Tuesday morning, police were involved in an unusually slow chase, moving at about seven miles per hour. A group of officers with flashing lights trailed a suspect in Tennessee following her escape from a felony charge.
Footage captured a peculiar scene featuring 28-year-old Katlyn Wray, who was spotted on Nashville’s unusually empty highway. When police finally caught up with her, they asked why she didn’t just stop. Her response was surprisingly candid: “I’ve already been on paper for ten years anyway.”
The slow-speed chase began just after 3 a.m. when officers found Ray sleeping behind the wheel of a stolen Nissan Altima. As the officers approached, she woke up and took off.
Despite police laying down spike strips to stop her, Ray managed to drive with flattened tires for nearly four hours. Reports indicated that officers were merely following her at a distance, while a helicopter hovered overhead, adding to the surreal nature of the situation.
Interestingly, Metro police have a policy against using pit maneuvers, which are normally employed to stop fleeing vehicles. Instead, they called the Tennessee Highway Patrol to handle the situation.
Eventually, officers managed to bring the chase to an end. Videos show Ray being arrested while wearing pink shorts and a hot pink top. She now faces multiple charges, including vehicle theft and reckless endangerment. It’s notable that she was already on probation from a forgery conviction in November 2023 and has a lengthy criminal record that includes burglary and drug possession.
