Tennis stars Stefanos Tsitsipas, Paula Badosa call it quits after about a year

Tennis stars Stefanos Tsitsipas and Paula Badosa announced on Sunday that they are retiring after a year of dating.

According to Reuters, Spanish tennis player Badosa, who boasts a total of 329 singles wins, confirmed the breakup in a post on his Instagram Story.

“After careful consideration and many precious moments together, Stefanos and I have decided to amicably part ways,” she wrote. “We have shared a journey filled with love and learning, but now, as friends with great respect for each other, we have chosen to go our separate ways.

“We are grateful for the support of our friends, family, and everyone who has been a part of our story. As we move into this new chapter in our lives, we appreciate the support of all our efforts. We continue to wish each other the best and appreciate your understanding and respect for our privacy during this time.”

Tsitsipas did not immediately post about the breakup.

Badosa’s best result at Roland Garros was in 2021, when he lost in the quarterfinals. Tsitsipas’ best performance at a Grand Slam tournament came in 2021, when he narrowly lost in the final to Novak Djokovic.
