Monday marked the first day 50,000 Amazon employees in Seattle returned to work in person.
The return of employees was expected to impact traffic in the city, as many employees transitioned to remote work during the COVID-19 pandemic. Nearby Bellevue is also preparing to welcome 12,000 Amazon employees back to its offices. FOX13 reported.
The mandatory return to work was announced last September by CEO Andy Jassy, who described the new five-day requirement as an opportunity to “invent, collaborate, be fully connected to each other, “Amazon's efforts to make the service available.” What's absolutely best for your customers and your business. ”
The tech giant transitioned from remote work to requiring employees to come into the office three days a week last May, as well as implementing several other changes.

The following month, when the full-time internal announcement was made, the number exceeded 500. amazon employee sent a letter to Amazon Web Services (AWS) CEO Matt Garman urging him to rescind the privilege, citing his recent comments that the policy has “widespread support” among staff. I objected to the statement.
The letter included personal stories from more than a dozen employees, who cited family obligations, medical needs and long commute times as barriers to compliance. One worker reported a four-hour commute to the nearest office, and another noted that relocating would require his or her spouse to quit their job.

many employees They argued that remote work is productive and that commuting adds unnecessary time and expense. Amazon is enforcing this policy by requiring employees to either report to a local branch, relocate to Seattle, or take “voluntary resignation” if they are unable to do so.
Amazon indicated to FOX Business that the company understands that this may be a transition period for some employees, so it issued this guidance well in advance of employees returning to work in the office. He said he is sharing.

Additionally, Amazon said it provides employees with “many resources” based on their location, including access to senior care options and pet sitters.
In a statement, Amazon also said it will provide employees with subsidized or reimbursable public transportation, free commuter shuttles, monthly parking assistance, and several sustainable commuting assistance options. He also said that it is possible.
