Terrible accident happens during endurance race in Australia

Crash at Bathurst 12 Hour Race

A tragic incident unfolded during the Intercontinental GT Challenge endurance race in Australia on Sunday.

The Mount Panorama Bathurst 12 Hour Race was nearing its nine-hour mark when Johannes Zerger’s Porsche 911 veered off course, ending up sideways on the track.

As the leading cars made their way around, Mercedes AM Team Craft Bamboo driver Ralph Aaron appeared unaware of Zerger’s vehicle’s position. When Aaron ascended the hill, he collided with Zerger’s car.

Consequently, Aaron’s car erupted in flames, with damage notable on the front right side of Zerger’s Porsche.

This led to the race being temporarily halted with a red flag.

The Mercedes-AMG Motorsport team later announced, via social media, that Aaron was stable but would need further evaluation at a local hospital. They also wished him a swift recovery.

In a fortunate twist, Zerger was able to exit his car unharmed.

By the end of the race, Mercedes-AMG Team GMR, comprising drivers Maxime Martin, Michael Grenier, and Maro Engel, emerged as the winners.

Meanwhile, High Class Racing’s trio of Keron Lee, Anders Fjordbach, and Dorian Boccolacci secured the second position.
