Authorities said a group of terrified young people called police in a panic, claiming to have encountered a Bigfoot-like creature that was growling and had “glowing eyes.”

According to the Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Office, a group of recent high school graduates from Houma, southern Louisiana, reported the frightening encounter last week while camping in Kisatchie National Forest, about 100 miles northwest of Baton Rouge.

Police said the group recalled seeing a large animal resembling “Bigfoot” shortly after setting up camp about 1.5 miles off the Backbone Trail in southern Natchitoches Parish.

This isn’t the first time Bigfoot has been spotted in Kisatchie National Forest.

Two self-described Bigfoot researchers, who only gave their first names – “Texla” and Claude – to avoid ridicule, claimed in 2019 that they had visual and audible evidence of the presence of a cryptid in the 600,000 acres of dense forest.

The pair placed camouflaged cameras and audio equipment in the trees, capturing hours of footage and audio recordings, including loud howls, which they later examined and analyzed. The local newspaper Town Talk reported the incident..

They also claimed to have seen Bigfoot “signs,” including footprints and twisted tree branches.

“That’s reality. If you choose to believe, that’s great. If you choose not to believe, that’s great too,” Tex La said.

“This is something that needs to be approached with an open mind,” he added.

In October, a man and his wife on a romantic getaway captured video of a supposed Bigfoot creature roaming around in broad daylight in Colorado.

Shannon and Stetson Parker were enjoying a sightseeing trip on the narrow-gauge railroad between Durango and Silverton in the southwestern part of the state when they photographed the creature.

Also known as Sasquatch, the large ape-like creature has its origins in Native American folklore and has been spotted by European settlers since the 1800s.

“People who claim to have seen Bigfoot have described everything from a large, upright ape to a powerfully built, hairy human, sometimes over eight feet tall.” The Washington National Guard wrote: In a post about legends.

“Discussions and research are ongoing,” he added.
