Tesla said Thursday it is recalling more than 27,000 Cybertrucks in the U.S. because a delayed rearview camera image can impair driver visibility and increase the risk of crashes.
This is the fifth recall Tesla has issued for the 2024 Cybertruck model since January. Tesla is issuing software updates to address the latest issues.
The recall affects most Cybertrucks in the U.S. and is the largest of five electric truck recalls this year.
Tesla issued a recall in April to fix a loose accelerator pedal pad, and in June for problems with wipers and exterior trim.
The electric vehicle maker began deliveries of the Cybertruck in November 2023 after a two-year delay due to production issues and battery supply constraints.
Tesla has not disclosed the number of Cybertrucks produced or delivered.
Tesla CEO Elon Musk has launched a Blade Runner-inspired truck to revamp the company's aging lineup as demand for electric vehicles slows.
Problems with the model are being closely watched by investors as Tesla has invested resources in its development.
The automaker said Cybertruck systems installed in affected vehicles may not be able to complete the shutdown process before the start-up command is given, which may result in a delay in displaying rearview images. .

Tesla said there have been 45 warranty claims and four field reports that may be related to the recall issue, but there have been no reports of crashes, deaths or injuries related to the issue.
Tesla says in a report to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration that the image may not appear within two seconds of putting the vehicle in reverse, and the display may go blank for up to six to eight seconds when the vehicle is shifted into reverse. He said it could be seen.
