Tesla recalling almost 3,900 Cybertrucks

Tesla is recalling about 3,900 Cybertrucks due to a problem with the gas pedal.

The recall, announced Wednesday, was caused by the truck’s accelerator pedal pad “which could become dislodged and cause the pedal to become wedged in interior trim.” The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) stated:.

The agency said the problem could cause “vehicles to accelerate unintentionally, increasing the risk of a collision.”

Tesla reported that the gas pedal pad issue has not led to any crashes, injuries, or fatalities. A customer reported the incident to Tesla at the end of March.

According to the recall report, affected Cybertruck owners should contact their Tesla to replace or replace the gas pedal assembly to “ensure sufficient retention between the pad and gas pedal to prevent pad dislodgement.” It is possible to have it reprocessed. Corrections will be free of charge.

Tesla notified its stores and service centers about the recall on Friday. A notice will then be mailed to customers in June, according to the NHTSA notice.

Tesla said the problem arose after “an unauthorized modification introduced a lubricant (soap) to aid in the assembly of the pad components to the gas pedal.”
