Tesla is recalling approximately 700,000 vehicles due to a problem with a tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS) warning light.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) wrote on Thursday: letter The automaker announced it will recall certain 2017-2025 Model 3, 2020-2025 Model Y, and 2024 Cybertruck vehicles.
The agency said warning lights in tire pressure monitoring systems “may not remain illuminated between driving cycles and may not warn drivers of low tire pressure.”
NHTSA said in the letter that driving with improperly inflated tires increases the risk of crashes.
In response, Tesla said it provided free software updates. Letters to owners will be sent out on February 15th. Owners can contact both Tesla customer service and NHTSA's vehicle safety hotline.
Elon Musk's company has faced recalls in the past this year. This is the seventh recall for the Cybertruck in 2024. According to To NHTSA. The previous Cybertruck recall occurred in early November and affected just over 2,400 vehicles.
In late July, Tesla recalled about 1.85 million vehicles due to a software issue that could prevent the vehicle from detecting an unlatched hood while driving.
Two months ago, the Texas-based automaker recalled more than 125,000 vehicles to fix an issue with seat belts. The recall included four different models.
