Musk said on Sunday’s X show that he was “honored” to meet Li, adding: “We’ve known each other for many years, since the early days of Shanghai.”
Musk had not previously announced plans to travel to China or meet with Lee.

According to China’s Xinhua News Agency, Li reportedly expressed his desire for further trade cooperation with the United States in a meeting with Tesla’s CEO.

The electric car maker said that the future “will not only be electric, but also self-driving.” The company’s FSD software is a major part of its self-driving car efforts.
Musk says Tesla’s affordable EV will arrive next year
Musk has visited China in the past. As FOX Business reported at the time, he spent three days in 2023 meeting with the country’s foreign minister and visiting the Gigafactory Shanghai.
Most recently, he interacted with Chinese President Xi Jinping at a reception in San Francisco in November.
China remains a big market for Tesla, even though it faces competition from many local automakers.
