Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton Challenges U.S. Senator
Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton is gearing up for a run against incumbent U.S. Senator John Cornyn in the 2026 Republican primary. Aaron Leitz, a US Marine Corps veteran and former Chief of Staff for Senator Ted Cruz, is poised to take Paxton’s place as Texas Attorney General. As the former deputy attorney general, Leitz is seen as highly qualified for the role.
Recently, Leitz appeared on “Primetime with Alex Stein” to discuss some unsettling developments in New York’s 2025 mayoral race, particularly the Democratic nomination of Zoran Mamdani, described as a “socialist communist Muslim.”
Mamdani has made some ambitious promises, including free city buses, universal childcare, freezing rent, and establishing a $30 minimum wage by 2030. He also aims to create affordable housing and open city-owned grocery stores.
His inspiration seems to be Bernie Sanders, as he aligns with strongly socialist principles.
Mamdani’s advocacy for the Palestinian cause and ties to the Council on American-Islamic Relations have sparked controversy, raising concerns about potential extremist connections.
Interestingly, despite his Muslim faith, which traditionally emphasizes conservative values, Mamdani presents as socially progressive.
Alex shared a 2020 Instagram post from Mamdani which stated, “Police rebates are a feminist issue. Women, especially trans women, are disproportionately affected by police and incarceration violence. We need to break away from these systems and invest in services that lift us all up.”
In Alex’s view, “I think he’s actually a good thing for New York City, because if this is what they want, then this is what they’ll get.” He expresses no sympathy for the city’s situation.
Leitz nodded in agreement, adding, “In a democracy, you get the leaders you deserve.” Perhaps this choice will be what New York needs to change its direction.
“What helped President Trump win in 2024 was the last four years of the disastrous Biden administration,” Leitz commented. “New Yorkers, unfortunately, may need to experience a socialist agenda to learn their lesson.”
“Good luck, New York! You’ll need it,” Stein concluded.
