Texas AG Paxton suing Biden admin over ‘disturbing’ new rule pushing LGBTQ+ agenda on foster homes

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton announced A lawsuit against new regulations forcing the foster care system to support the LGBTQ+ agenda.

“The federal government is now holding the Texas foster care system hostage and trying to push its unscientific and biased beliefs.”

The rule change would make federal funding for foster care programs dependent on whether the organization accepts and supports the child's self-identified LGBTQ+ identity.

“I'm suing the Biden-Harris administration over yet another disturbing attempt to push the transgender agenda onto vulnerable children,” Paxton wrote on social media.

“Under Mr. Biden and Mr. Harris, the federal government is now holding Texas' foster care system hostage and trying to push its unscientific and extremist beliefs about gender,” he added.

A statement regarding the lawsuit said the rule changes by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services will further exacerbate the shortage of foster care providers without statutory authority. Texas could lose up to $432 million in federal funding if the new regulations go into effect but are not met.

opponent of the lawsuit said Failure to change the rules could lead to an increase in suicide rates.

“We're going to end up in a situation where people will be empowered to discriminate against these children,” said attorney Jacquelyn Varela, who represents foster youth in many cases.

Paxton went on to say that the rule change “is in direct violation of federal law and could undermine our vital foster care system.”

Paxton's efforts are unlikely to win support from Texas Democrats. Transgender activists were among the speakers at the Texas Democratic Convention in El Paso in June.
