South Texas police say 10-year-old boy confessed to kill someone In 2022, he was only 7 years old.
This shocking confession came after the boy allegedly threatened to kill another student on the school bus on April 12th. During questioning, the boy admitted that he had killed someone, and an investigation by the Gonzalez County Sheriff’s Office began.
When questioned by police, the boy recalled in detail how he killed 32-year-old Brandon O’Quinn Raspberry in January 2022.
He said he was visiting his grandfather at the Lazy J. Recreational Vehicle Park and Ranch in Gonzalez County. Raspberry also came to the park in his own RV. He said the boy obtained the revolver that belonged to his grandfather from the glove compartment of the truck. He used it to shoot and kill Raspberry, who was sleeping in the RV.
According to police, the boy stated that he did not know the man who shot him and that the attack was unprovoked.
Investigators were able to recover a handgun sold at Seguin’s pawn shop and have linked it to the shooting.
Police said the boy will not be charged with murder because under Texas law only children who have reached the age of 10 are guilty of committing a crime. The boy turned 8 years old a week after the shooting.
The boy was sent to a San Antonio hospital for psychiatric treatment and then sent to the Gonzales County Jail on charges related to the school bus incident.
The Nixon-Smiley Consolidated Independent School District released a statement assuring parents that their children will not be allowed to return to elementary school campuses.
“Nixon Smile CISD would like to reassure parents, students, and the community that the safety of our students and staff is of the utmost importance,” Superintendent Jeff Van Auken’s letter reads. There is. “We would like to thank the Gonzalez County Sheriff’s Department for their unwavering dedication to keeping our schools and communities safe.”
Investigators say Raspberry moved to the RV park just four days before he was shot.
