Texas Governor Greg Abbott has announced the start of a new border wall construction project in Starr County. The Governor ordered border wall construction in Texas after the Biden-Harris Administration halted projects approved during the Trump Administration.
“Texas will not back down from the fight to build more border wall and secure our border until President Biden and Vice President Harris secure our border,” the governor said in a written statement this week. “Texas is the only state in U.S. history to have built its own border wall.”

Breitbart News reported in January 2021 that the Biden-Harris administration had ordered U.S. Customs and Border Protection to halt border wall construction projects approved under the Trump administration. In an apparent about-face, Democratic presidential candidate Vice President Kamala Harris has reportedly claimed to be in favor of building a border wall.

Senator J.D. Vance, the Republican vice presidential nominee, quickly fired back, saying that if Harris supported the border wall, “we could start right now.”

In June 2021, Governor Abbott requested the Biden-Harris Administration return the land. It was seized by the federal government to build a border wall.
Construction of the Texas-funded border wall began on private land in September 2021, with landowner approval. The governor also ordered that construction projects halted by the Biden-Harris Administration resume in September 2022.
“Much of the border wall is being built with contracted border wall materials. Texas bought it from the contractors that built the wall for President Trump. We're building the exact same wall,” Governor Abbott said in an exclusive interview with Breitbart Texas.
“We found a way through the federal surplus program to allow the state of Texas to obtain border wall panels, and we obtained as many as we could until Biden found out about it,” Abbott explained.

Shortly after the interview, the Biden-Harris administration ordered the federal government to stop selling abandoned border wall materials to Texas. “Biden blocked Texas from getting it. There may be other ways to get more.”
The Biden-Harris administration has not only halted construction on Trump-era border wall projects, but is spending roughly $6 million per day storing materials and leaving construction sites abandoned, Breitbart Texas' Randy Clark reports.

“President Biden is paying professional contractors more than $2 billion to take care of the metal, while at the same time the number of migrants crossing our open border is at a 20-year high,” he said. Senator James Lankford (R-Oklahoma), the ranking Republican on the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee's Subcommittee on Government Operations and Border Control, said in July 2021, “It is completely absurd that Americans are paying contractors to secure metal gates that President Biden is refusing to install because he wants to 'study' the wall.”
