Texas Democrat Rep. Jasmine Crockett rants against ‘white man’ on the Dismantle DEI Act

Rep. Jasmine Crockett, D-Texas, became agitated during a House hearing Wednesday, ranting that white men have never been oppressed in America.

At a House Oversight Committee hearing, “Abolition of DEI law”, Crockett joined his Republican colleagues in defending the bill as a “powerful response to the oppression of our rights, freedoms, and freedoms” as it seeks to undermine diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts. answered.

Mr. Crockett strongly disagreed with Congressman Clay Higgins (R-Louisiana)'s use of the word “oppression.”

“You consistently said the word 'oppression' over and over again, and every time you said it it was like hearing nails on a chalkboard, because you said 'oppression'. You don't seem to understand the definition of 'oppression'.” Please refer to Google for solution. Oppression is long-term brutal or unjust treatment or domination. That is the definition of oppression,” she said. “So, as I sit here as a black woman who lived in the civil rights movement, I hope my colleagues can help you understand the same black history that you on the aisle are trying to remove from your classroom. Let me tell you why I wanted it, and then I can misuse words like 'oppression.'

Texas Congresswoman Jasmine Crockett blames “white people” during a hearing on the DEI Dismantling Act on November 20, 2024 in Washington, DC.

Crockett argued that white men in the United States did not face oppression because they were not forced off their land or sent to foreign countries as slaves.

“There was no oppression of white people in this country. Tell me which white men were dragged out of their homes. Which of them were dragged all the way across the ocean and told, 'You're going to work.' Please tell me. We're going to steal your wife. We're going to rape your wives. 'That didn't happen. It’s oppression,” Crockett said.

“We did not ask to come here. We are not like the immigrants you always face. We did not run away from our homes. We were stolen. So, yeah, we're going to sit here and get pissed if you want to sit here and act like… And this side of the aisle Don't lose sight of the fact that it's the people of color that the white men on the side are telling us on this side of the aisle, all of you are being oppressed, all of you are being harmed, That's not the definition of oppression. If you tell us about the long-term cruel or unjust treatment you suffered, we can talk about it.”

Crockett argued that white men in the United States did not face oppression because they were not forced off their land or sent to foreign countries as slaves.

Crockett pointed out that white men only make up 30% of the country's population but hold more than 60% of elected offices.

“I don't even know how many white men have served in this chamber. But I can tell you that I am only the 55th Black woman elected to Congress. “When you want to act like it's true, it's actually not,” she said. “Again, I’m only 55th.”

She concluded her remarks by asserting: a more diverse workforce You are more likely to outperform your competitors. ”

“Diversity works. Until the data shows us otherwise, we must listen to the experts, step outside of our emotions, and realize that racism is real in this country.” I think we need to go back to a country that reacquaints itself with the problems we face all the time if we stop pretending it's not. And that means we're looking for a more perfect union. It will bring you the true connection you seek when you are in a relationship,” she said.
