Texas governor sending helicopters, 400 soldiers to border

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott (R) is sending 400 soldiers and several helicopters to the border, reinforcing President Trump's federal efforts to secure the border.

In a statement Monday, Abbott's office said he directed the Texas Department of State Military Affairs to “deploy Texas Tactical Border Force to the Rio Grande Valley” to work with the Trump administration on border security.

of Texas Tactical Border Force established They are scheduled to depart from military bases in Fort Worth and Houston on Monday. It will send C-130s and Chinook helicopters and at least 400 soldiers “to join the thousands of Texas National Guard troops already deployed to the border and work with the U.S. Border Patrol at the border,” according to the release. That's what it means.

“Texas has a partner in the White House who can work together to secure the Texas-Mexico border,” Abbott said in a statement. “To support that mission, today I am deploying the Texas Tactical Border Force, a group of hundreds of troops who will work with U.S. Border Patrol agents to stop illegal immigrants from entering our country and enforce our immigration laws. It was implemented.”

“For the past four years, Texas has continued to resist the Biden administration's border crisis and denial of protections for Americans,” he added. “Finally, the federal government is working to end this crisis. I am grateful for President Donald Trump's decisive leadership at our southern border and working to secure our border and make America safe again. I look forward to working with him and his administration.”

President Trump has made immigration a centerpiece of his 2024 presidential campaign, and his administration has taken a number of steps to immediately change immigration and border policy.

Trump also vowed to carry out mass deportations if elected. Last Friday, the White House press secretary announced that the administration had launched military flights to remove illegal immigrants.

“Deportation flights have begun,” White House press secretary Caroline Levitt said on social platform X. “President Trump is sending a strong and clear message to the entire world: If you enter the United States illegally, you will face severe consequences.”
