A prominent Texas lawyer has been shot to death by his wife in their $1.6 million home in an apparent murder-suicide, authorities say.
Jerry Hernandez, 61, and his wife, Sonia Hernandez, 52, were found dead Wednesday morning in their upscale home in Shavano Park, about 13 miles from downtown San Antonio, city officials said. News 4 San Antonio.
Authorities say the incident happened just before 8 a.m. — just minutes before authorities arrived on the scene after receiving reports of gunshots heard at the residence.
According to the outlet, the Bexar County Coroner’s Office ruled Jerry Hernandez’s death a homicide and Sonia Hernandez’s death a suicide.
Authorities have not yet released details about the couple’s deaths but said they are not searching for anyone else involved in the incident.
The four-bedroom, five-bathroom, 4,834-square-foot home was purchased in 2020. According to the housing listing.

A native of San Antonio, he graduated from the University of Texas at Austin and earned his law degree from California Western School of Law in 1988.
The firm said that in 2017, Hernandez was named a top personal injury lawyer by SA Scene magazine.
In his spare time, he is said to be an avid San Antonio Spurs fan and once coached a championship-winning AAU girls’ basketball team.
His wife, Sonia Hernandez, owned a beauty boutique, according to online records.
Jerry Hernandez is survived by a daughter who graduated from law school in May.
