The Texas Elementary School party wobbled a bit when mom brought a gel o’clock stuffed for her kids.
Tyler town officers arrested 33-year-old Teresa Isabel Bernal on Monday for the party’s favor, but she said it was an accident.
According to a police affidavit, Bernal said that he bought his daughter’s Christmas in December last year from a local confectionery craftsman she found on Facebook. Obtained by NBC.
Fifteen kids ate colorful shots. The colorful shots were placed on the table along with a more innocent treat.
Most of them “had suffer from stomach pains and headaches,” the affidavit said. One child was unable to stay on his legs, another vomit, and a third “passed.”
Bernal thought the shot “tastes differently” but claimed that Tots noticed alcohol was present after taking it, officials told NBC.
However, some of her daughter’s teachers were able to taste alcohol and they sent all the children who ate them into the nurse’s office, officials said. Only four children remained behind.
“During the interview I was told that it felt strange for Bernal to bring a shot of Geloo to primary school, but they trusted Bernal to not bring anything harmful to the school party.
Officers said they don’t believe Bernard accidentally gave the children drinks.
“In my opinion, Bernal couldn’t miss a shot of Jell-O that she bought…and the fact that she brought her to her daughter’s fifth grade Christmas party included drinking,” the officer wrote, adding that the Facebook business that sold the shots revealed it contained alcohol.
Bernal left prison on Monday after posting $75,000 in bonds. She is banned from the school premises, the district told NBC.
