Texas mother arrested after allegedly leaving children home alone to go on cruise

A Texas mother of two is behind bars for allegedly leaving her young children home alone for nearly a week while on a cruise.

Lakesha Woods Williams, 29, was arrested Thursday on two counts of child endangerment after leaving her children, ages 6 and 8, in a Houston high-rise apartment for six days, according to the Harris County Constable. It was done. Office – 5th branch.

Officers from the 5th Precinct responded to Williams’ apartment in the 9700 block of Katy Freeway on April 9 after receiving a call from someone concerned about two children.

When officers entered the apartment, the children said they were alone and their mother was on a cruise.

Paramedics and Child Protective Services were then called to the home to check on the children’s health and safety, the constable’s office said.

“We are still putting together the facts and circumstances of how these children were left alone for several days,” Officer Ted Heap said in a Facebook post. “But the important thing is that they are now safe and those responsible must be held accountable for leaving these children in a dangerous situation.”

Heap added that both children are now in the care of relatives.

Williams was arrested the next day after returning to the apartment and booked into the Harris County Jail. Her bond is set at $25,000.
