Texas park closed after 3 children attacked by coyote

The city of Arlington, Texas, is trying to capture at least one wild animal after three children were bitten by a coyote at a park.

The attacks occurred at Parkway Central Park on Saturday, Monday and Tuesday. FOX4 reported. Three children were bitten in separate incidents on the playground or in the parking lot of the park.

“I think he bit the boy, pulled him and tried to drag him into the forest,” Estraita de Klutz, a witness to the latest attack, told the television station. “Suddenly, I heard the other mother say, ‘Oh my God! The dog is biting her!'” She ran and screamed at the dog, throwing her shoe at it. ”

The woman said the coyote released the 6-year-old boy, and his parents immediately applied pressure to the stab wound in his chest.

All coyotes removed from the park will be tested for rabies, and the families of the children bitten will be notified of the results.

On Wednesday, both FOX 4 ground and SKY 4 units spotted multiple coyotes in the area.

“Public safety is our top priority, and the City of Arlington has never experienced a coyote attack,” Code Compliance Director Brian Daugherty said in a press release. “If you encounter a wild animal, never interact with it and never feed it. If you feel threatened, try to make yourself as large and intimidating as possible. Whistle, air horn. , you can also bring in things like walking sticks.” It added a deterrent effect. ”

Barricades will be installed at the entrance to the park, and digital message boards will be placed around the park to inform the community about coyote activity.
