Students at Texas State University engaged in a troubling re-enactment of the assassination of conservative activist Charlie Kirk, drawing laughter from onlookers while calling on Governor Greg Abbott to expel those involved.
A video shared on social media showed an unidentified student shouting profanities at members of Turning Point USA, an organization founded by Kirk, during an event at the school’s San Marcos campus.
The student is seen dramatically mimicking Kirk’s assassination by slapping her neck and pretending to recoil from a bullet’s impact.
In the video, the students climbed onto a statue, mimicking a dramatic scenario by shaking and then dropping as if shot, prompting laughter from the crowd.
After the act, the student spat on the ground and remarked, “f-kn-r,” before walking away from the surprised students.
Governor Abbott shared the video online and demanded swift action from the university to expel the students involved.
“This behavior is unacceptable at our school,” Abbott commented. “We will expel this student right away. We cannot condone such mockery of an assassination,” he added on social media.
Kelly Dumphouse, the university chair, indicated that officials are currently working to identify the individuals shown in the disturbing footage.
“We are aware of the video filmed on Monday at the San Marcos campus,” Dumphouse stated. “Immediate steps are being taken to address this situation.” He emphasized that violent actions or those trivializing violence go against the university’s core values.
“If this individual is affiliated with TXST, appropriate actions will be taken,” he concluded, making the school’s stance clear.
This incident follows another at Texas Tech, where a student was arrested for mocking Kirk’s assassination during an all-night event. The 18-year-old, identified as Camryn Giselle Booker, was recorded shouting at fellow students commemorating Kirk.
Footage later showed Booker confronting an individual wearing a MAGA hat, stating, “Evil is real, people—it kind of looks like it.” Abbott subsequently shared an image of Booker in handcuffs, highlighting the incident.
“This happened to someone laughing at the assassination of Charlie Kirk at Texas Tech,” he wrote, using the acronym “FAFO,” which stands for “Look Around—F*** Around.”
Kirk, 31, had recently faced questions about mass shootings linked to transgender individuals when he was shot at during an event at Utah Valley University on September 10. During this incident, he appeared to panic and grab his neck after a shot rang out.
The suspected shooter, Tyler Robinson, a 22-year-old Utah student, reportedly taunted Kirk with a bullet casing, shouting, “Hey fascist! Catch!”
