A 66-year-old Texas man was recently shot and killed while trying to sell a cell phone on Facebook Marketplace, according to the Dallas Police Department.
Police said Amaya Medrano, 19, was charged with murder. Police announced her arrest in a press release on November 13th.
According to fox 4Ahmad al-Khalaf was found dead at an Oak Cliff gas station on Nov. 8, when officers discovered his body next to his pickup truck.
“On November 8, 2024, at approximately 3:00 p.m., Dallas Police Department responded to a shooting in the 300 block of South Marsalis Avenue,” police said in a statement. “Preliminary investigation indicates that one person was shot.”

“Dallas Fire Rescue transported the victim to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries,” the statement continued.
According to FOX 4, Alkharaf was trying to sell an iPhone 15 to a potential buyer who connected through Facebook Marketplace.
Surveillance camera footage shows Alkharaf and the suspect having a brief conversation before the suspect turns around, shoots the 66-year-old man and flees.

Police said the suspect was later identified as Medrano through prominent tattoos on his face and neck, and a few days later they found the stolen cellphone listed on the same Facebook account Alkhalaf had interacted with. After that, the suspect was chased.
Medrano pleaded guilty to stabbing someone in 2023 and was serving a five-year suspended sentence for the incident at the time of his arrest, according to court records obtained by FOX 4.
Medrano is currently being held in the Dallas County Jail. Her bond is set at $1 million.
