Texas: Unauthorized immigrant admits to killing Dallas motel manager after argument about a malfunctioning washing machine

Beheading Incident in Dallas Involves Cuban National

A 37-year-old Cuban national living in Dallas has admitted to beheading a motel manager during a violent confrontation. Recent court documents reveal that he placed the victim’s head in a trash can, leading to murder charges against him.

Jordanis Cobos Martinez was arrested on Wednesday, with police discovering him covered in blood and armed with a machete.

According to prison records, Cobos Martinez is classified as an “undocumented immigrant.”

“Cobos Martinez confessed to the murder during an interview with authorities,” NBC News reports.

Currently, he is in immigration detention at the Dallas County Jail. The Department of Homeland Security has confirmed that Cobos Martinez is a Cuban citizen facing a final removal order from the U.S. He recently spent time in ICE custody at a facility located west of Dallas.

In January, he was released under supervision due to Cuba’s refusal to accept him back, citing his criminal record.

The violent altercation took place Wednesday morning when the motel manager, Nagamalayan, advised Cobos Martinez not to use a malfunctioning washing machine. The situation escalated while Cobos Martinez and another woman were cleaning a room. The affidavit notes that Nagamalayan communicated with Cobos Martinez through the woman, which incited his anger.

Surveillance footage reportedly shows him exiting the room, brandishing a machete, and violently attacking Nagamalayan. The manager fled to the motel’s front office, but Cobos Martinez pursued him, continuing the assault. Attempts by Nagamalayan’s wife and son to intervene were unsuccessful, as Cobos Martinez pushed them aside.

The affidavit also describes a chilling detail where Cobos Martinez took Nagamalayan’s keycard and cell phone while assaulting him, stating he intended to “remove his head from his body.” Afterward, he kicked the head into the parking lot, then placed it into a trash can.

Authorities apprehended Cobos Martinez not far from the scene, where he was still in possession of the machete, along with the victim’s belongings.
