Texas woman, 85, to reunite with her long-lost 1959 bridal portraits: ‘I missed them’

An 85-year-old Texas woman will soon be reunited with a bridal photo taken more than 60 years ago, thanks to social media.

According to FOX TV, the photos were discovered at an auction by Sandra Poindexter of Lynchburg, Virginia. Originally looking for a vintage picture frame, the Virginia resident was struck by the photo and turned it over to find information about it.

Poindexter then found a piece of masking tape with the name “Harriet Galbraith” written on the back. She immediately posted about this discovery on her Facebook group, allowing users to track down Galbraith.

A love letter hidden behind the walls of a New York home during World War II is delivered to the family 80 years later.

“I thought someone in my family might want this,” Poindexter told Fox Television. “If it belonged to my family, I would love to have it. And it was so beautiful.”

Ms. Galbraith, who lives in San Antonio, sent her mother a gorgeous bridal portrait in 1959, shortly after her wedding.

In the photo, she wore a Christian Dior gown and elegant elbow-length gloves. Galbraith said the snapshot of her was taken by Washington, D.C., photographer Bradford Bachrach shortly after her engagement.

In his 80s, he married William Galbraith Jr., who worked as a secret agent for the CIA. He passed away in 2016.
