Like many Americans, Harley Hurosky of Texas decided to join the Dry January movement and abstain from alcohol for a month after drinking too much during the holidays.
“I didn't feel very well because I ate and drank a lot during the holiday season,” Hurley told Fox News Digital. “So I thought it would be a smart move to start the year with the goal of getting in better shape.”
Hurowsky, who lives in Houston, hoped to build a circle of supporters who would not only encourage her, but also join her on her sobriety vacation. That didn't exactly happen.

“Obviously, I expected my friends and family to rally around me and pitch in for emotional support,” Hurosky said. “At the end of the day, the only thing they care about is being comfortable on the sidelines with a cocktail in hand.”
Hurowsky decided to record people's reactions to her questions and post them on social media. (See the video at the top of this article.)

But she found that abstaining from alcohol had other benefits.
“We definitely felt less groggy and were able to enjoy life without those dreaded hangovers,” Hurosky said.
“The dry January didn't really suit their mood.”
“Plus, we proved that we can continue this challenge and stay sober for a month, so overall it’s a win.”
