A Texas man was found dead Friday after authorities said a woman called 911 for help saying she had shot her kidnapper.
According to the Gillespie County Sheriff’s Office, the woman, a 45-year-old Montgomery resident, called 911 around 12:40 p.m. and said she had been kidnapped and drugged before shooting someone.
The woman’s whereabouts were initially unknown, but officers eventually found her near a winery in the 10800 block of U.S. 290 East.
The woman then spoke with officers and described the vehicle and weapon used.

Deputies found the vehicle parked outside the westbound lane and found a man dead in the front seat area, the sheriff’s office said. Authorities later confirmed the man had died.

The man was identified as Lance Damon Reed, 49, of the Houston area, the sheriff’s office said. No further details about Reed or his death were immediately provided.

Meanwhile, the woman was taken to a local hospital and questioned by investigators. Authorities did not immediately release an update on the woman’s condition.
