For quite some time, former NYPD commissioner Ray Kelly expressed his disappointment regarding police misconduct, particularly about some of the officers involved being relatively new to the force.
“It’s frustrating,” Kelly remarked during our conversation, “because we’re putting in so much effort to address the problem.”
This feeling reflects a broader concern about the state of immigration in America.
The nation is facing a rise in violence and hatred, from anti-Semitism to various street crimes. A quick glance reveals that many issues stem from actions taken by immigrants, exacerbated by the current open border policies.
Turning Against America
A notable issue involves disruptions on college campuses, often led by foreign students from Muslim-majority countries. These students, having come here on student visas, seem to turn against both America and Israel upon arrival.
This leads to an influx of street crime and anti-Semitic incidents.
A disturbing case emerged in Boulder, Colorado, where Mohamed Sabry Soliman, a 45-year-old Egyptian national, was accused of attacking supporters of Israeli hostages held by Hamas. The incident resulted in injuries to twelve individuals, several of whom suffered serious burns.
Witnesses reported that Soliman shouted “Free Palestine” while launching Molotov cocktails. He later boasted about his intentions to harm “Zionists.”
Reports indicate he had been planning such an attack for a year, openly stating he would do it again if given the chance.
Soliman’s family lived in the U.S. illegally, a fact that many media outlets overlooked. He had arrived on a B2 visa meant for tourism and family visits, which expired in February 2023. Afterward, he sought asylum and obtained an expired work permit.
His family, including his wife and five children, were detained by ICE, but reports indicated that they were being quickly processed for deportation.
This situation shouldn’t imply that all immigrants are predisposed to violence.
However, recent trends highlight the importance of thorough vetting before granting immigration status.
Ongoing monitoring is also essential to ensure compliance with stay regulations, protecting American citizens in the process.
The reality is that our nation doesn’t need individuals who violate immigration protocols. Millions are waiting to come here legally, and they are likely to contribute positively to America.
Historically, standards for immigration have been common sense, garnering support from both political parties, and most citizens have felt proud to call America a land of opportunity.
Unfortunately, the government has wavered on enforcement, with a growing distrust in federal authorities, while some ideologues have rewritten history to paint the country as a hub of racism and xenophobia.
President Biden’s handling of immigration has been criticized as one of his most significant failures, especially with the influx of people without proper vetting.
Amid this, it’s worth noting that Donald Trump’s election was partly fueled by public discontent with open borders. Even with economic concerns arising from various policies, Trump remains firm in supporting stricter immigration controls.
His administration has aimed to deport criminal aliens and secure the borders, also addressing harassment and threats against Jewish students at elite universities.
However, this stance has met resistance from many Democrats.
While facing criticism for his immigration policies, Biden has kept the borders largely open, leading to significant economic and social challenges.
In New York City alone, billions have been spent catering to over 200,000 undocumented individuals, many of whom have been involved in various crimes.
Despite studies showing that immigrants typically commit crimes at lower rates than native-born citizens, the current situation under Biden raises alarm.
From 1880 to 1930, 27 million people legally migrated to the U.S. — a peak in human migration. Comparatively, the surge of illegal immigration under Biden poses ongoing concerns.
If even a small percentage of 15 million undocumented individuals commit crimes, we’re looking at a staggering number of offenses.
Given this context, it’s perplexing why so many Democrats prioritize retaining individuals with criminal backgrounds in the U.S.
Addressing Gang Issues
There’s growing concern around hardened gang members and other dangerous individuals being allowed to stay.
Left-leaning media often opposes any of Trump’s initiatives, including efforts to deport criminal foreigners.
The situation in Colorado has sparked discussions in newsrooms about the immigration status of suspects involved in such violent acts.
Trump highlighted the urgency of securing borders and removing threats to American safety following this latest incident, and, whether one agrees with him or not, there’s merit in that viewpoint.
