The danger of socialism to America: Correspondence

The issue: Support for socialism is increasing following the election of New York Mayor-elect Zoran Mamdani.

Those who vote for socialists might want to reflect on Margaret Thatcher’s insights: “The problem with socialism is that it ends up draining other people’s money.”

This, I think, represents a core flaw in the socialist economic model.

It really doesn’t have a chance, not just in New York City, but anywhere else.

It seems like many New Yorkers lack a grasp of essential historical and economic lessons.

Too many uninformed individuals are supporting uninformed leaders.

The millions of undocumented immigrants who have come to the U.S. were escaping socialism in various parts of Latin America and Cuba.

Socialism tends to leave everyone poorer except for those in power.

In stark contrast, capitalism is, arguably, the most effective means of achieving social justice. There simply isn’t a competing system like it.

My hope is that New Yorkers can understand this before facing another financial crisis.

I’m pretty skeptical that federal assistance will be on the table again.

Many Gen Z voters today seem oblivious to the realities of communism or socialism.

History lessons about the Holocaust or World War II seem to barely register with them.

The reality is that poorly informed voters often have a limited understanding of concepts like “freedom.” If they can’t grasp its meaning, there’s a risk of unrest.

Mamdani’s ascent to the mayoralty is concerning for many New Yorkers.

Issue: The BBC allegedly edited and aired footage from President Trump’s speech on January 6, 2021.

President Trump has threatened legal action against the BBC for supposedly inciting the Capitol riots by altering his speech on that day.

The next entity that ought to be scrutinized is the Jan. 6 committee, which also used selective evidence to portray Trump negatively.

After the BBC’s editing of Trump’s words, I think it’s fitting to label them the “Big Biased Chatterbox.”

It’s quite ironic that there’s a lack of response to this misleading documentary about Trump, especially considering the daily arrests for hate speech in the UK.
