The health system has collapsed since the war in Gaza began more than a year ago. The hospital was attacked, disrupted medical supply lines, and many doctors were killed in Israeli artillery fire. Other doctors are in custody.
Dr. Khaled Serr I am a surgeon at Nasser Hospital in Gaza. He says his hospital was arrested after being attacked by Israeli forces. Like other doctors in Gaza, he says he thinks he has been restrained for his job. He tells Hannah Moore that he was beaten, humiliated and endured awful condition before he was released innocently.
Annie Kelly He is the editor of the Guardian Rights and Freedom Series. With Hoda Osman An Arab reporter for investigative journalism told eight doctors that she was detained and tortured in an Israeli prison. She said the IDF is working to restore security to Israeli citizens, arresting people suspected of terrorist activity and explaining that those who were not involved in the terrorist activity were released to Gaza as soon as possible.
Annie tells Hannah what the effects of doctors' incarceration mean not only for the health care system itself, but for Gaza's health care system.
