Computer scientist Jeffrey Hinton, considered the godfather of artificial intelligence, just BBC’s “Newsnight” And he had some alarming things to say about the future impact of AI on our world. The first thing that caught my attention was his argument that governments should establish a universal basic income now to address the massive inequalities that artificial intelligence will create — and that will happen soon. He met with UK Chancellor Rishi Sunak in Downing Street to discuss a universal basic income for millions of workers who will be replaced by AI.
I’ve been warning about this for years. Many conservatives initially didn’t understand why I was discussing Universal Basic Income in relation to artificial intelligence. I don’t agree with UBI as a solution, but I understand the fear that gives rise to the idea.
To stop AI, we need to kill technology — All of it.
I think we should all own our personal data. Companies like Google and ChatGPT are making a fortune off of our information, and they need to stop doing that. We should be compensated for our information. Instead of taxing us for universal basic income, these companies must pay a fair amount for all our information. Then you can decide whether to sell it or not.
But Hinton is right about the main point: jobs are disappearing, and they’re going to disappear fast. He predicts that within 20 years, 50% chance Jobs will disappear. AI will take over virtually every industry.
That’s not the only thing he warned about. Hinton said there is a 50-50 chance that AI will take over within 20 years. humanity itself. He calls this an “extinction-level threat” to humanity. Because we may have “created a form of intelligence superior to biological intelligence.” He is concerned that AI could “evolve to gain incentives to exploit itself further” and autonomously “develop sub-goals of gaining control”, and that AI could He talked about how it begins to replicate itself and hide behind other forms of technology.
This is why I have been saying for a long time that we are building a new Tower of Babel. Last week, I talked on the show about how the solar flare that caused the aurora borealis that lit up the sky and social media was a catastrophic event. whendo not have ifa large flare causes an EMP-like event that disables power grids and communication networks.
As terrible as it sounds, I think this solar flare could be a blessing. This is the only way to shut down AI, since it will be hidden inside every chip.
To stop AI, we need to kill technology — All of it. All electronic devices and electricity must be shut down, and all silicon chips must be removed and destroyed. For example, if there is a refrigerator in Malaysia that survives, when the power is turned back on, the refrigerator will contain AI and spread across the world again.
Hinton said we’re so close right now that he’s most concerned about when AI will be able to make “autonomous decisions about whether or not to kill people.” But he cautions, “I don’t think that’s going to happen until something really nasty happens.”
So how should we react to this? If there was a 50% chance that AI would wipe out humanity, would we accept that? What about 10%? Or even 1%? What AI can offer? Does all the convenience justify it?
