The ‘great replacement’ comes to America’s heartland

Every presidential campaign has a pivotal moment, and in 2024, that moment may have arrived in a small Midwestern Ohio town. Once a city of about 60,000 people, Springfield was suddenly thrown into disarray by the arrival of 20,000 new residents, many of whom had been resettled by Haitian immigrants who had entered the country under Temporary Protected Status during the Biden-Harris administration. Crime soared, health and education services were overwhelmed, and some residents reported on social media that their pets had been kidnapped and possibly eaten.

With just months to go until the presidential election, Springfield has become the epitome of everything critics say is wrong about the radical, alternative immigration policies of the Democrat who has taken control of the White House.

Critics have called the “great replacement” theory a conspiracy theory, but replacement immigration is standard Democratic policy.

America's border security has long been a disaster. For decades, waves of illegal immigrants have crossed the border, but the country has been slow to respond, like a frog slowly boiling. Cultural and demographic changes have been gradual, with the worst effects concentrated in the border states rather than spreading across the nation. Residents of Florida and Texas have felt the dangers acutely, while residents of the Midwest and Northeast have largely ignored the problem.

Now that the federal refugee resettlement program has penetrated so deep into the Midwest that every state has effectively become a border state, the rapid transformation of cities like Springfield illustrates just how devastating this process has become.

Vice presidential candidate and Ohio Sen. J.D. Vance has frequently mentioned the situation in Springfield in his speeches, but the town's plight only came to the forefront when Older Women Videos Her speech at a local city council meeting was controversial, as she expressed fears that she and her husband would not be able to protect themselves from the non-English-speaking homeless men who would sit in their yard.

Social media posts from local residents also revealed reports of intimidation by unknown men in vehicles, threats from immigrant co-workers, and of course the kidnapping of pets. In one tragic incident, a Haitian man drove a school bus off the road, killing an 11-year-old boy and injuring 23 other children.

According to FBI statistics: 242% increase Springfield saw a 2,000 decrease in crime between 2019 and 2022. The city's education system is overwhelmed as the number of non-native English-speaking students soared from 250 to 1,600. Health care services are also struggling, with one facility reporting a $436,000 bill for a new Haitian-fluent interpreter and a tripling of patient wait times.

Immigrant workers are being priced out, and residents are facing increased competition for entry-level housing and working-class jobs. Any town that grows by a third of its population struggles, but the sudden culture clash between longtime residents and newcomers has made a difficult adjustment a nightmare.

Springfield's struggles are not unusual. Sylacauga, AlabamaA recent city council meeting came to an abrupt end as residents complained about the large numbers of illegal Haitian immigrants settling in town in search of work. The city council president adjourned the meeting as attendees yelled at local government representatives for ignoring their concerns. The same levels of chaos and displacement that border towns have endured for decades are now rapidly spreading to dozens of cities and towns across the country, and people are finally starting to wake up.

When it comes to illegal immigration, the federal government is not just a passive supporter, but a malevolent agent of large-scale crime against the country's native peoples. Local politicians often try to sidestep the issue of mass immigration to avoid accusations of racism and because they know they will not receive support. Critics call the “Great Replacement” theory a conspiracy theory, but replacement immigration is standard Democratic policy. Progressives actively import and relocate millions of illegal aliens to the interior of the United States in order to permanently change the country's demographics and electoral landscape.

Even if illegal immigrants cannot vote now, Democrats' push for uncertified mail-in voting raises doubts. Amnesty and birthright citizenship guarantee that within a generation the left will gain tens of millions of new voters who will be loyal to the party.

Those hoping that Republicans would act as an effective bulwark against such abuses will be disappointed. Republican governors Mike DeWine of Ohio and Kay Ivey of Alabama have failed to take significant steps to protect residents of their states. Ivey acknowledged the problem but shifted the blame entirely to the Biden administration. DeWine addressed the issue on Tuesday, but his remarks were focused primarily on increased infrastructure funding. He noted that two other cities in Ohio have also experienced surges due to Biden administration policies, but made it clear that he is not opposed to the policies, only the funding shortfalls that come with them.

When Florida Governor Ron DeSantis sent 50 illegal immigrants from Venezuela to Martha's Vineyard, the National Guard rounded them up and removed them within 48 hours. But when the federal government resettles 20,000 immigrants in Republican-leaning communities in the state, residents are left with no one to turn to.

Progressive journalists and politicians have expressed outrage, accusing opponents of racism and arguing that communities have no right to choose who joins them. This implies that the formation of communities is according to objective criteria and that no one gets to decide, which is a complete lie.

The federal government chose to grant protected status to these immigrant groups and encourage their mass migration to Republican-leaning states. There is nothing organic about this phenomenon. The ruling elite made these decisions, transformed communities, and reshaped the country in the process without ever consulting the people.
