Since the Senate has switched to the Republican column, it is unclear how many Republicans there will be. But they could get much more than 50 votes. But it won't take 60 years to break the filibuster.
That could mean a pressure campaign to eliminate the filibuster.
Another dynamic is: Democrats hold the seats they need to win the House.

With Republicans in the Senate, there will be a race for majority leader between Thune, Cornyn and Rick Scott. That leadership vote is scheduled for next Wednesday.

And it could have an impact on who Trump wants to lead Republicans in the Senate.

And if Democrats are able to flip the House, its roots can be traced back to the transition between Biden and Harris.

Harris might not win tonight. But if Biden had remained in the race, Democrats would have lost 30 seats. Even if Biden left office, there was no guarantee that Democrats would win the House of Representatives. But with Biden out, the House of Representatives is now within striking distance for Democrats.
