Yes, another name has emerged for the Los Angeles Lakers’ vacant head coaching position: Villanova University legend Jay Wright, aka “Mr. Pinstripes” himself.
Following the league-shaking news that the Lakers are targeting University of Connecticut head coach Dan Hurley after winning back-to-back national championships, rumors are circulating that Los Angeles is considering acquiring Wright, another NCAA March Madness national champion, who is reportedly being considered as a contingency plan. NBA insider Marc Stein said: report Lakeshow is interested in Wright, who was at the helm of Nova in 2000. 2022Stein described Wright as a “stealth” candidate to consider if the deal with Hurley doesn’t come to fruition.
“For your information, I was warned early on by a prominent insider to be prepared in case former Villanova coach Jay Wright emerged as a hidden candidate,” Stein said.

In the space of a few days, the news cycle has thrown us around three different head coaches and at this point, I don’t think anyone knows what the heck is going on.
