Corey Lewandowski, President Donald Trump’s 2016 campaign chairman, told Breitbart News that “the left is in complete free fall” amid reports that Democratic Party officials are trying to knock Joe Biden off the top of the presidential list.
Breitbart News caught up with Lewandowski outside the Fiserv Forum in downtown Milwaukee ahead of the final night of the convention, when Trump will deliver his first public speech since his nearly assassination on Saturday in Butler, Pennsylvania.
Asked what would happen if Democrats were to replace Biden with Vice President Kamala Harris as their nominee in the primary, Lewandowski spoke excitedly of the challenge facing Democrats now that party leaders are reportedly trying to remove Biden from the ballot.
“The left is in complete free fall, and I love it,” he said. “Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer are calling for Joe Biden to resign. There are 10 or 20 senators who say Joe can’t win. There are hundreds of millions of dollars sitting on the sidelines because Joe can’t win, and they’re totally confused.”
“If they think that just replacing Joe Biden with Kamala Harris is going to bring unity, they’re crazy because then they’re going to have to run a vice presidential election, and they don’t know who that’s going to be,” he added. “And by the way, Kamala Harris is going to own every policy of the Biden administration. Open borders, fentanyl, withdrawal from Afghanistan, she’s going to own everything.”
Shortly after speaking with Lewandowski, Breitbart News conducted a brief, exclusive, on-camera interview with Eric Trump, in which Trump said that if Biden dropped out of the race, “his legacy would be destroyed forever.”
“If Biden were to withdraw, I think his legacy would be forever tarnished,” he said when asked what the impact would be if Biden were to switch to Harris. “It would vindicate everything that my father and all of us and, frankly, all of you at Breitbart have been saying, which is that for the last four years, he was incompetent, he was incompetent. And, frankly, it was [Harris] Doesn’t she bear a great deal of responsibility in that she should not have allowed a man who was incompetent and incompetent to remain president?”
