Some on the right may think we’ve turned the tide in the fight against DEI placement and promotion, as well as the “Walk” ideology. But, to be honest, that’s not the case. These movements are merely lying low, kept alive by the far left, which continues its ongoing conflict.
It’s perhaps worth noting that things could ramp up pretty quickly. Many left-leaning individuals are preparing to escalate their “woke” strategies if the Democrats regain some power in Congress this November or if they win the White House in 2028.
If you need a fresh example of how deeply ingrained DEI appointments and “woke” thinking are, consider the recent testimony from Anthea Hartig, director of the National Museum of American History. During questioning from Congressman Brandon Gill of Texas, she displayed an air of smugness, almost disdain, while he presented his perspective on this “woke-ism” and its merit-destroying impacts. She likely thought that once the Trump administration is out of the way, they could reinstate “woke” practices and DEI throughout both government and private sectors.

Rep. Gill highlighted a particularly concerning program called the “MASS Action Toolkit.” MASS means “Museum as a Place for Social Activities,” and it originated around 2017 among museum professionals aiming to turn their workplaces into hubs for progressive activism. This initiative was presented as part of the Smithsonian’s DEI efforts.
This raises an essential question: how do we combat a struggle we’re currently losing? First, let’s just acknowledge that loss. Then, let’s analyze the strategy of the left, who seem to be playing the “wait and see” game. We need to select a key battleground that’s been taken over by the left and work to reclaim it.
With that in mind, the Smithsonian Institution appears to be a prime candidate. This institution, meant for all Americans, has become heavily influenced by leftist ideologies, turning it into a center for “social justice” every year, bit by bit.

President Trump has the potential to change that. While he can’t directly appoint a new head for the Smithsonian, he can exert pressure on its 17-member board to initiate change.
And this change needs to happen as soon as possible.
For many in the U.S. and billions worldwide, the Smithsonian Institution symbolizes America. It draws more than 20 million visitors yearly and simultaneously “educates” an equal number of students annually. It holds immense importance as a conduit for our country’s voice, and no one understands this better than the progressive thinkers who have infiltrated its corridors.

These individuals see the Smithsonian as one of their best tools for shaping perceptions of American values and principles, rooted in our founding documents. I say this as someone who’s written a book titled “56 Freedom Lessons from the People Who Risked Everything to Sign the Declaration of Independence,” which was aimed at safeguarding our Founding Fathers from negative portrayals and erasure efforts from the left.

But I also recognize that, as we battle against “wokeness” and DEI, we are struggling to defend the legacies of figures like Thomas Jefferson, Benjamin Franklin, and John Adams. The left’s attempts to rewrite our shared history are indeed threatening those names.
The Smithsonian has become a frontline in the struggle against those who proudly support our country’s exceptionalism. Thus, I propose adopting a bold name like “America First” to push back against the attempts to erase the Founding Fathers and reframe our historical narrative.

Let’s imagine a committed American patriot entering the Smithsonian and systematically removing the far-left ideologies that have crept into its every corner. This should be done with a sense of urgency, as if our future truly depends on it. Because, honestly, that’s exactly what’s at stake.
