Detransition activist Chloe Cole told Breitbart News that left-wing activists and Democrats have made the issue of child transgenderism “a very powerful political tool” and that left-wing opponents of child mutilation are afraid to speak out.
“This is really a bipartisan issue,” Cole told Breitbart News’ Emma Jo Morris at the Young America’s Foundation’s (YAF) National Conservative Students Conference in Washington, DC on Wednesday.
“You can see this in polls about Democrat and Republican views on issues like women’s sports, parental rights, school notification and, of course, the medicalization of children,” Cole continued.
“People from all political walks of life are very strongly opposed to what’s going on, especially children undergoing medical procedures,” she added.
“The American left and the Democratic Party have managed to turn this into a very powerful political tool because they’ve made it into a human rights issue,” Cole added. “They’re saying that if you don’t affirm someone’s identity in any way – if you don’t allow young children to make risky decisions about their bodies and their development – you’re denying them a fundamental human right.”
“And a lot of people in left-wing circles are afraid to speak out about it,” she added.
Cole, an adult woman who attempted to transition to a boy as a minor and then aborted the transition, has been outspoken on the issue and filed a lawsuit against Kaiser Hospital and other medical institutions in 2023 for “medical negligence.”
“At the age of 13, I was rushed into a medical procedure by doctors and psychologists and my parents were told that this was life or death for me and that I would not survive unless I was treated under an affirmative care model,” Cole told Morris.
“I was prescribed puberty blockers to suppress puberty,” she continued. “A month later I began a course of weekly testosterone injections to masculinize my body, and at the age of 15 I had a radical double mastectomy.”
Cole explained that the double mastectomy was a “major turning point in my gender transition” and that it “made me realise how dangerous it was for my body and how much it had taken from me”.
“I had an epiphany,” Cole said. “I wanted to be a mother someday, I wanted to have children, I wanted to play the wife role in marriage, I wanted to have a family of my own someday, and I wanted that to happen organically. But I was terrified that it would never happen.”
“I decided not to transition when I was 16. [double mastectomy] “This surgery has inspired me to continue to advocate for children’s rights and families’ rights and to speak out about this experience,” Cole added.
