Reflections on Recent Political Trends

Alarming incidents of sexual misconduct among Democratic figures, from New York Governor Andrew Cuomo to California Congressman Eric Swalwell, seem to have signified a sort of conclusion for the #MeToo movement.

This conclusion was underscored when Graham Platner, a Senate candidate from Maine and self-proclaimed socialist, was exposed for his disturbing and misogynistic posts on social media.

The decline of the Black Lives Matter movement showcases a cyclic pattern often observed on the left. It starts with noble intentions but often devolves into a parody of itself.

Historically, many activists associated with BLM have turned out to be less than genuine, echoing past controversies from Al Sharpton’s involvement in the Tawana Brawley case to the Duke lacrosse incident.

The consequences stemming from George Floyd’s death have inflicted lasting wounds on the nation, and we’re still grappling with those impacts today.

Many of the left’s actions—seizing urban spaces, toppling monuments, and instigating violent protests—have left echoes of that chaotic summer in recent memories.

In the wake of demands to “defund the police,” countless officers have lost their jobs nationwide.

Movements promoting critical race theory have led to shattered bail systems, resulting in the swift release of numerous violent offenders.

In response to these changes, top universities have been quick to adapt, eliminating standardized testing requirements and prioritizing race in admissions processes.

Meanwhile, a significant number of roles dedicated to diversity, equity, and inclusion have been created within educational institutions and businesses.

Yet, the state of race relations hasn’t notably improved.

In the wake of all this upheaval, a recurring psychological drama plays out again and again.

Many organizations and so-called experts are now quietly suggesting that global warming isn’t the immediate crisis that many claimed would destabilize the planet.

Despite this, the costs of past initiatives have been quite substantial.

The left’s vision of an ideal world, characterized by unrestricted diversity and a lack of borders, has led to disturbing outcomes, even causing concern among European leftists regarding their political futures amidst an influx of illegal immigration.

Countless undocumented immigrants have entered our borders, with little interest in integrating into Western societies, which has resulted in rising crime rates and increased anti-Semitism.

The recent focus on transgender issues was expected to become the next major civil rights struggle for the left, generating a new group of individuals seeking reparations from the traditional majority.

This has led to an unsettling increase in teenagers questioning their gender identity and contemplating dangerous hormone treatments.

What drives these recurring waves of societal madness?

Firstly, such crazes often emerge in affluent Western nations, which have the resources for such unusual pursuits.

Secondly, these trends generally spring from leftist ideologies, commonly first taking root in academic institutions, media, and bureaucratic structures.

The common thread in these movements involves viewing the average person as too ignorant to grasp complex ideas, necessitating fear tactics to push potentially irrational agendas.

For instance, the narrative suggests that if we don’t eliminate natural gas equipment, we’ll face catastrophic flooding, whereas defunding police is purportedly necessary to avoid ongoing race riots.

If we don’t hire numerous commissioners focused on race and gender, the public may be labeled with various prejudices.

The narrative further pushes that opening borders to millions of undocumented immigrants is necessary for addressing “whiteness.”

It’s true that many voters in the West may not openly support these divisive elite policies.

Consequently, the left’s long-term strategy tends to follow several predictable paths.

  • Firstly, advocate for open borders to cultivate diverse, struggling populations.
  • Secondly, promote seemingly populist candidates like Graham Platner, James Tallarico, and a caricature of Joe Biden.
  • Thirdly, attempt to dismantle established systems, targeting the Electoral College and the Senate filibuster.
  • Finally, initiate pervasive crises requiring increased taxes, larger governmental scopes, and stringent elite oversight.

However, a growing number of individuals in the U.S. and wider Western world are beginning to resist the agendas pushed by green advocates, gender activists, and other similar movements.

Their response could be summarized in a phrase: “We will not allow you to dismantle our traditions that ensure our prosperity, safety, and freedom, which have been passed down from generations that came before.”
