15 Years Later: A Warning Echoed
Fifteen years ago, Glenn Beck, while still at Fox News, made a stark prediction. He warned that radical groups—be they Islamists, communists, or socialists—might unite to disrupt stability, particularly against Israel and capitalism. So, one might wonder: is this warning becoming a reality today?
In a recent episode of “The Glenn Beck Program,” he discusses a recent bombing attempt in New York City, linking it back to his earlier forecasts.
Two individuals, allegedly connected to ISIS, now face terrorism charges after they reportedly attempted to explode two homemade bombs during a protest outside the residence of New York City’s mayor, Zoran Mamdani, last weekend. This occurred amid a backdrop of tensions between groups opposing and supporting Islamic ideologies in the city.
“What troubles me even more isn’t just the bomb attempt,” Glenn comments. “It’s what came next. New York City’s new mayor labeled the protests as hateful and racist, yet sidestepped addressing the ideological motivations behind the attacks on the opposing side.”
Additionally, reports emerged about the mayor’s wife allegedly liking a social media post that praised Hamas’s attack on Israel from October 7.
“Why does this matter?” Glenn queries.
Because “excuses made by leaders, or their failure to confront issues, often shape what society deems acceptable.”
He observes a growing ideological overlap between two historically opposed movements: radical Marxism and radical Islamism. History, he believes, demonstrates that these movements can form “temporary alliances” when they confront a common adversary, in this case, Western civilization and its values, despite their foundational contradictions.
The crucial term here is “temporary.” Such alliances usually dissolve when the enemy is no longer a threat.
Glenn recalls the 1979 Iranian revolution, where Shia religious leaders allied with Marxists and secularists to destabilize the regime and ultimately overthrow the Shah. However, as the Islamists consolidated power, they famously turned against their erstwhile Marxist allies, leading to imprisonment, purges, and executions.
What we’re witnessing in cities like New York, Dearborn, and Minneapolis, as well as in parts of Texas and even in Europe, appears to be a “red-green alliance.” And Glenn warns that this might end with one faction inevitably consuming the other.
“Ideology is crucial,” he argues. “Civilizations don’t fall from a single attack but rather when they lose the insight to recognize threats for what they are. Iran learned this in 1979; today, Europe is facing its own reckoning, and the U.S. is beginning to notice the early signs.”
Glenn proposes that the solution isn’t hatred or simple pity. Instead, he advocates for welcoming those who respect American values while excluding those intent on undermining or harming the nation. This includes the deportation of individuals who support terrorism and a refusal to tolerate violent ideologies.
“Leaders and citizens need to engage in open discussions about these dangers, even when it feels uncomfortable,” he asserts. “The gravest danger isn’t when extremists surface—because they’ve always been around. Rather, it’s when leaders and civilians believe that discussing the threat is worse than the threat itself.”
He concludes, “It’s never too late to take action. But perhaps it might already be late.” If you’re curious to learn more, the full discussion can be viewed in the video above.
