Barack announced earlier this week during a Friday morning conference call that was caught on camera that he and his wife, Michelle Obama, had decided to support Harris’ campaign.

The call was initiated by former First Lady Michelle Obama, who told Kamala she was proud of her and said “this is going to be historic.”

“Michelle and I just wanted to call to let you know we couldn’t be prouder to support you and that we’ll do everything in our power to help you win this election and get into the Oval Office,” former President Barack Obama said.

“Oh my god,” Harris said by phone. “Barack, this means so much to me. Doug and I, we’re both looking forward to doing this and getting out and traveling. But most of all, I want to say that the words that you’ve spoken and the friendship that you’ve shown over all these years means more than words can express. So thank you both.”

Harris also said the three plan to spend time together on the campaign trail.

This latest news follows the Obamas’ initial hesitation, with previous reports surfacing that had created a furor over the impact of the Obamas’ delayed endorsement.
