Social Media Reaction to Odyssey Movie Rap
Upcoming movie Odyssey has faced intense criticism online due to a peculiar rap summarizing the film in just one minute. One user on X remarked, “It’s an unbelievable level of fear. Please stop.”
Actors Matt Damon, Tom Holland, Anne Hathaway, Robert Pattinson, Zendaya, Charlize Theron, Jon Bernthal, and Lupita Nyong’o all featured in the clip, which aired on NBC’s The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.
Viewers quickly took to social media to express their discontent. One comment read, “Homer is rolling in his grave regretting writing this book,” referring to the source material. Another user added, “Watching it makes me feel embarrassed all over again.”
Some reactions pointed out that similar creative efforts were common in elementary school. “We used to do something like that in fourth grade about states and their capitals,” a user stated.
One person was bewildered that a rap was created to promote Odyssey, saying, “Yes, this is real. Yes, that’s awful.” Podcaster Benny Johnson criticized the trend, suggesting that “these Hollywood stars recorded a RAP video to promote Odyssey. Unbelievable level of disgust here. Please stop it.”
Another user said, “This has to be the most disgusting promo for a movie I’ve ever seen.” Others laughed, saying Hollywood would suffer if they used this for advertising. “This is really bad,” one declared.
A few expressed their resistance to watching the movie: “I don’t want to see this Odyssey,” one commenter admitted. Another shared their reluctance, saying, “Everything I heard about this ‘Odyssey’ movie was against my will.”
As the backlash continued, one user commented, “At this point, it’s just a big humiliation ritual.” Others advised, “Guys, stop. I decided not to watch it anymore.”
