President Donald Trump mentioned on NBC’s “reports” that his policies play a role in the “positive aspect” of the current US economy.
Host Kristen Welker pointed out, “The economy contracted in the first quarter. All week long, you’ve been stating this is President Biden’s economy. So, is it yours now?”
“I think certain elements are. Costs could have been lower, but it takes time to see those changes. However, we’ve lost about $5-6 billion daily under Biden. There’s talk of a 145% tariff, which isn’t good. We’ll see how it unfolds, but it needs to be a fair arrangement,” he responded.
Welker asked, “When will it officially become the Trump economy?”
“For now, I mean this sincerely. The positive side is the Trump economy, while the negative aspects are due to the Biden economy,” he replied.
Welker followed up, “If the stock market dipped, for instance, when we announced tariffs, you would acknowledge it. It was unpredictable. But now it’s rising. Are you taking credit for that?”
“Ultimately, I’m accountable for everything, but I’ve only been in position for a little over three months. The stock market should reflect changes from the short term,” Trump stated.
