The Real Surprise in the Hunter Biden Pardon

I have to admit that I was surprised by at least one aspect of Hunter Biden's pardon: the fact that everyone else was surprised by it.

Few of us in the alternative media believed President Joe Biden when he promised for years not to pardon his son — after Mr. Hunter registered his gun purchase earlier this year. Even after being found guilty of making false statements. We never trusted Biden, who was a liar throughout his half-century as a politician. We also expected any father to do the same.

We also knew that President Biden would pardon Hunter Biden to cover up his crimes, his involvement in an influence-spreading scheme dating back to the Obama administration, and perhaps even earlier.

Mr. Hunter joined the board of Ukrainian energy company Burisma in 2014, at a time when his father was not only the vice president of the United States but also President Barack Obama's point of contact on Ukraine issues. This is a clear conflict of interest.

This is just one of several foreign business relationships that Hunter Biden has forged, using his closeness to his father to rake in cash that, according to Hunter's own claims, was shared with his father. He is said to have returned to his family.

In an even more egregious example from 2017, recorded on Mr Hunter's abandoned laptop, he set aside 10% ownership for a “big man” in a joint venture with a state-owned Chinese company. , later the company exploded (Mr. Hunter took the cash).

That's why President Biden's pardon was extended retroactively to January 1, 2014, long before the gun crimes and some tax evasions (at least those that were indicted), but the tax evasion charges from years before that were extended. had already reached the statute of limitations. (Thanks to the prosecutors who, far from exposing Hunter Biden, tried to protect him until the ruse was exposed.) The president wants to keep a lid on his role in the business of spreading influence.

None of this was surprising to conservatives. We reported on Hunter Biden's strange rise in Burisma in 2014. noticed2019, report by John Solomon (then the hill) About Joe Biden's bizarre bragging in 2018, unless the government fires the prosecutor on charges of corruption who happened to be in charge of an active investigation into Burisma, a key loan guarantee from Ukraine in 2016. For threatening to withhold $1 billion.

For conservatives, the impeachment of President Donald Trump in 2019-2020 was both the removal and defamation of President Trump and the cover-up of corruption within the Biden family. We also believe that efforts by the media, tech companies, and national security agencies to censor stories about Hunter Biden's laptop are an attempt to protect the Biden family and interfere in the 2020 presidential election on Joe Biden's behalf. He believed it was part of a collaborative effort.

But to Democrats and most of the mainstream media, Hunter Biden was nothing more than a recovering addict. Joe Biden was cleaning up after Ukraine when he called for the prosecutor to be fired. Donald Trump's request for Ukraine to investigate the Bidens was an abuse of power. That laptop was (and may still be!) Russian disinformation. Joe had nothing to do with his family's business interests. And Hunter was being unfairly targeted by spiteful Republicans.

They believed all of that because they believed that somehow Joe Biden could be trusted. When he ran with the slogan “Truth is better than lies,'' he meant it. He also said that unlike the evil Trump, he values ”institutions” and the “rule of law.”

They didn't believe it because Joe Biden fooled them. They believed it because they were sure they themselves believed it.

That was a real surprise. Perhaps it wasn't meant to be. Here are their names. Never trust them, even if you do.
